TECHNOCRACY TECH

EMPYREAN GENERATORS

The Empyrean Generators are the power source of the Technocracy's science and technology.  Every canto has an Empyrean Generator, built into the floor of its dedicated chamber.  The device consists of interlocking half-circles of increasingly smaller size, held in place by a central bolt extending downwards from the largest and most exterior of the half-circles.  All of the half-circles spin, at differing rates of speed: typically the smaller half-circles spin faster than the bigger half-circles, but this is not always the case, and spin rates of the rings vary from Generator to Generator.  There is a certain amount of randomness in how each individual Generator behaves.

Rather than operating individually, the Technocracy has networked its Empyrean Generators throughout all of its cantos worldwide, ensuring that no Technocrat, or piece of Technocracy technology, is ever out of range of the Generators and their transmitted power.

The method by which the Empyrean Generators produce power is unknown.

ROBES

The Technocracy's robes are far more than simple articles of clothing.  Though styled after the simple robes of a monk, they are enmeshed with technoorganic processing power and contain a number of highly-advanced technologies.  Among other things, they allow their wearers to become incorporeal, and pass through solid matter like a ghost.  They are also able to project interactive holographic displays into the air, which the Technocrats can manipulate with their hands and fingers.  These holographic projections are the primary graphical user interface between Technocrats and their technologies, except when those technologies are controlled by thoughts via a Technocrat's augments.
